“Don’t Rush. Take your time. Nursing is not a race. There is no finish line. Only the journey.”

About Novice is the New Nurse
“Two Pediatric Critical Care Registered Nurses were moved to create this brand because they understood firsthand how fragile the novice nurse is when entering this complex profession. They saw the lack of support new nurses were receiving in areas that extended beyond just the clinical skills. “How do I communicate with my team?” “Can I even do this?” “Did I pick the wrong profession?”
Jannel Gooden, BSN, RN and Ashley Kennedy, MSN, RN, Clinical Nurse Leader,
realized the missing element to nurse residency programs and the orientation process for new nurses.
Most facilities focus on the clinical skill required to maneuver any hospital unit but
neglect the attention to nurture the confidence and the hurdles we all face as new nurses. The importance of confidence in the Novice Nurse is often overlooked in the training process. With the demands of healthcare, new nurses do not spend enough time analyzing their fears and concerns and how this affects their progression. This leads to more obstacles in communicating and caring for our patient populations.
New Nurse retention beyond the first year and longevity thereafter is vital to any
institution because of the huge financial investment into the orientation process. A more comfortable and confident nurse leads to increased job satisfaction, which in turn leads to increased patient satisfaction and thus better patient outcomes!
Novice Is The New Nurse, LLC strives to build up the new nurse through seminars and workshops geared not only for the nurse but all members of the healthcare team. We have created our own Unique Framework, The 6 Pillars to Success as a N.O.V.I.C.E. Nurse, designed to guide the new nurse through the first few months of growing pains. We focus on the areas where new nurses feel most challenged but are often overlooked.
With the help of Novice is The New Nurse, all new nurses will see their dream actualized as they flourish from novice to advanced beginner, comfortably and confidently.”
